Description
VERY RARE 1974 Chevy Cheyenne Super K10. Original numbers matching drive train. I am the 3rd owner and purchased her in 2007 out of Springfield, Oregon. The 2nd owner purchased her in 1976 from a local dealer as a dealer trade in. She was originally sold new in Idaho to the 1st owner. I have the registrations from the 2nd owner dating back to 1976. She currently has about 225k miles on her. Many of us say it as did I. I said I would never sell this truck. I know what it is and virtually impossible to find especially this color combo and so solid as this example is. I had 11 muscle cars and decided to hold onto this one. I am at a point in my life where I really don't see myself getting the time to completely restore her. My son will be driving shortly and we are restoring a 76 Trans AM for him. So here she is for sale.
If you have looked for one of these or are into the 73 up then you know what your are looking at. Extremely rare. I'll do my best to describe her. I have more pictures and am happy to get you specific pictures if needed. I am in the So Cal, Orange County area if you would like to set a time and come look at her.
OPTIONS:
You can see most of the options. She has tilt wheel, A/C (Works Great), PS, PB, Rear cab light, Dual tanks, AM/FM, rear slider. I added the shoulder harness. I also built the gauge cluster with a tach and clock. They were not originally available together.
EXTERIOR:
The body is solid and mostly rust free. There is a spot (See Picture) on the drivers side below the door. Besides this the truck is rust free. It has had one repaint almost 35 years ago. She is always under cover. The truck bed was replaced by the previous owner. When he went to have her painted the truck bed was do beat up on the inside from use that he decided to replace it. You can run a magnet down the side and it will stick anyplace you try. The doors are solid. The front right is damaged. I had a VW Jetta change lanes and move right over on me. No repairs have been done what you see is what happened to her. I have a complete front end from a 1974 truck that goes with her. Fenders, core support, hood, Hood hinges, inner fenders, doors, bumper, brackets, etc.... Not that they are needed i just happened to part out a solid truck years ago and held onto the parts. She does need her left hood hinge replaced or rebuilt. Also included is a 74 tailgate with the correct 73-74 tailgate trim panel. The one on her in the pics is 1975 ish, which I prefer.
INTERIOR:
As you can see in the pics the metal in the interior is in excellent shape and all original rust free. All original pain inside including the lower dash metal. Behind and under the seat are solid and still sport the original Hawaiian Blue. Everything under and behind the dash is redone as well as the tilt column. Completely rebuilt tilt column, New pad, (The original just had the speaker area with a small crack) I put an upgraded center speaker in. I was going to remove it though as it pushes up on the dash in the middle. Added the later Chevy steering wheel. Original steering wheel comes with her. The gauge cluster is custom and everything works but clock is intermittent. Clock has original movement and probably needs another cleaning. the original speedo and a couple gauge clusters are included in the purchase. Original tach printed circuit used. I have the original wood grain for the dash bezel with the rare chrome piece that outlines the top. The dash wood grain is in awesome shape. The headliner and all upper trim has been restored as you can see in the pics. Original visors. I have the original door panels restored. I also have the door wood grain in excellent condition. She come with a perfect pair of wind wing assemblies from a 74. They are better than the original ones on her. I just wanted the best original parts I could find. The only large interior item I have not purchased is the carpet. You will need to do that. The seat was out of the 74 I picked up. The original one seat needed to be reupholstered. I kept the original material from the seat. The seats were identical. With the chrome piece at the rear bottom. Very rare difficult to find. The original kick panels are restored. I also have a pair of very rare door speaker grills that were offered as an accessory in 74. I have factory cruise control for this year as well.
DRIVE TRAIN:
The engine is original numbers matching. VIN Stapped on Engine Block reads; 04F478606 V0708TKT. (See Pic). I added the Edlebrock carb and manifold. I also added the shorty headers and a complete dual exhaust system. Another addition is the later model HEI ignition. I have the original intake, carb, manifold, air cleaner assembly, and distributor that comes with here. The motor has had one rebuild when she was painted 35 years ago. Not sure of the miles at the time. She runs good but I think it is time for a resto if you want to tow with her. She does have the typical chevy small block leaks. Valve covers and oil pan. I don't use her to tow or anything strenuous at all. She is just a pretty around town truck. I drive her nicely and never get on her hard.
The transmission, Transfer case, and Axles are all original and work great. 4x4 unit shifts and works great as well. I believe she has factory 4:10 or 4:11 gears in here. I can't remember if they are posi or not. I can check if important. She turns the 35's effortlessly.
SUSPENSION:
The previous owner said she had a 2" lift kit on her when he bought her from the dealership in 1976. When I first drove her I couldn't believe how smooth she rode. I wanted to go higher and add the 35's (She had 31's) so I just used shackles and bigger blocks to get another 2 inches out for the suspension to keep the ride. Then I added the 2 inch body lift. you'll be surprised at the ride. I kept all the original parts and they go with her. no cutting or welding was done. The steering box area where it attaches to the frame is a problem area on these trucks. This one has been welded and supported as most will need.
TIRES & WHEELS:
She has 35's on factory 15 x 8 Chevy truck wheels (Not original to this truck). I have 1 1/2 inch spacers to bring the wheels out farther. I do not like the look of the older trucks with the wheels so inset. The spacer allowed me to use the stock non 4x4 caps all around. I do have the correct 4x4 caps for the front. I also have a set of the 80's 4x4 rally wheels that come with her. I had them made into 15 x 10's. They have the rings and center caps as well.
SHELL:
This is an original Lear shell I found. They are extremely hard to come by. Especially without the boot. I wanted a rear slider. If you can find one they are not cheap in this condition.
BLAZER SEAT:
As you can see in the pic I have an early original Blazer seat in the back bed. It is not attached. I was going to attach it and add seat belts.
I have a lot of extra parts that come with here. I took a picture in my storage of just a portion of what I have. I just haven't had the tie to pull everything out yet.
