    Description

1976-12 Whales of the World – National Geographic Map Poster School
Another of the very popular National Geographic map/studies; this dealing in the types and habits of the world's whales. Whales apparently
    began
60 million years ago when hairy four-legged mammals ventured into the water. As time past, the hind legs disappeared, the front turned into flippers, hair became blubber, and the body became enormous. This study identifies the two types of whales, the toothed (65 species) and the baleen (generally the larger whales). The map-side of this study is titled “The Great Whales: Migration and Range” and contains a world map and illustrations of the different varieties of the great whales, with descriptions, and a display on the map of the migration routes taken by these whales. The reverse-art side has illustrations and identifications of many varieties of whales.
    Map is approximately 20” x 30".
The National Geographic is known for it's fine maps & detailed information.
Supplement to the National Geographic Magazine; magazine is not included.
