Unfortunately, these "folder-style" press kits cannot be shipped by the post office's cheap Media Mail rate, and have to go by Priority Mail (unlike the Digital CD-ROM Press Kits that I am selling as separate auctions). Your shipping cost will be whatever the eBay shipping calculator above says it will be for a two-pound package. If you win more than one of these press kits -- or if you win multiple auctions of anything -- I will combine items into a single package to save you as much money as possible by weight.

What You Will Get in This Auction
-----
Photos above always show the actual items that you will get, because I never use "stock photos." Please excuse any reflections or focus issues.
This is one of many press kits that I am selling on eBay, so be sure the check out my other listings!
IMPORTANT NOTE: Press kits do not include the movies themselves!
These were sent to media outlets for promotional purposes, to be used by writers doing reviews or features about the films, and were not sold at retail stores.
This auction is for a really elaborate press kit sent out to promote the first "Hellboy" movie directed by Guillermo del Toro and starring Ron Perlman and Selma Blair, based on the Dark Horse comics series by Mike Mignola. It is made to resemble a BPRD (as in Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense) dossier on all of the movie's main characters, and comes with several glossy photos and text sheets in a folder. Details:
The outer envelope is made to resemble an interdepartmental "Inter-Bureau Delivery" envelope of the BPRD, with fake names and dates written and crossed out as if the envelope has been re-used several times. The illusion that this is an actual BPRD envelope is even carried out in the tiny fine print at the bottom of the side with the red cord, where text says "Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense - P.O. Box 4204, Newark NJ 07101." Note that this is the only element of the press kit that is NOT in great condition, because this envelope served as the actual mailing envelope the studio used to send the contents through the mail. Unfortunately, that means a large FedEx sticker on the back had to be ripped away in order to open the cord. Also, the flap is torn at the red circle where the cord wraps around. On the other side of the envelope, the original addressee's name has been removed by scraping it off of the white label (next to the "fist holding sword hilt" logo), and a postage meter label is attached above that label (showing the mailing date March 12, 2004).
Inside the envelope is a manila folder with some corner and edge impressions that keep it from being flawlessly flat, but basically in nice shape for something sent through the mail with no protection. Small stickers that say "Confidential," "Urgent," "B.P.R.D." and (on the tab) "B.P.R.D. 1985-0028 SIGHTING REPORT" are attached.
On the inside left is a BPRD "Dear Recruit" letter from Professor Broom, attached by metal fasteners through two holes punched at the top of the letter. One of those holes has a tiny tear beyond its circle. Also, there are some dark flecks on the paper, but it is impossible to tell if they are part of the paper or flaws. Finally, the letter has an impression from where it has been pressed against the staple on the facing page. In fact, nearly ever page in this kit has similar impressions from being pressed against other sheets that have staples attached.
The first item on the right side of the folder is a blurry black and white glossy photo of Hellboy. Note that ALL of the eight glossies in this kit are similarly out of focus, because they are supposed to look like hastily taken surveillance photos. Like all of the glossies, a small square of BPRD note paper is stapled at the bottom left corner. NOTE: Everything in the press kit has two holes at the top, so they can be attached on the "blades" of the metal fasteners at the top of the folder.
The next item is a BPRD info sheet about that photo and its subject, with a small "Evidence" envelope attached by a paper clip to the glossy photo. (All of the glossies have envelopes attached the same way, with a paper clip.) The Hellboy envelope contains an empty wrapper for a Halloween-size small Baby Ruth bar!
The next item is a glossy of Professor Broom, with attached stapled note. The paper-clipped Evidence envelope contains a folded sheet of very distressed parchment-style paper bearing an address.
The next item is a BPRD text profile of Professor Broom.
The next item is a glossy of Liz Sherman. The Evidence envelope contains some wires held together with masking tape.
The next item is a BPRD text profile of Liz.
The next item is a glossy of Abe Sapien. I am not sure what the Evidence envelope is supposed to contain. In this case, the "envelope" is a small plastic zip-lock bag with small blue chips inside. Maybe they're supposed to be scales?
The next item is a BPRD text profile of Abe.
The next item is a glossy of John Myers, the new character not in the comics who was added to the movie. His Evidence envelope is empty ("Nothing Available").
The next item is a BPRD text profile of John Myers.
The next item is a glossy of Grigori Rasputin. His Evidence envelope contains a folded and distressed-looking newspaper clipping from November 7, 1868. It seems to be in German, but I'm not positive about that. Let's just say it isn't in English!
The next item is a BPRD text profile of Rasputin.
The next item is a glossy of Sammael. His Evidence envelope is empty ("Nothing Available").
The next item is a BPRD text profile of Sammael.
The next item is a photo of Kroenen. His envelope is empty ("Nothing Available").
The final item is a BPRD text profile of Kroenen.
You'll love it! Any questions, just ask!
